The year 2020 brought many changes to our lives, and for my son Trey, it meant adapting to virtual learning. As a first-grader in the Murrieta Valley school district, he faced the challenges of online education while my wife and I managed our careers in education. When it became clear that Trey needed a community closer to home, we moved him back to Menifee, hoping to foster friendships and a sense of belonging.
When Trey transitioned back to in-person classes, we found ourselves in need of a reliable after-school program that could accommodate our schedules and provide Trey with a nurturing environment. That’s when we found Right At School.
Right At School came highly recommended by fellow parents, and it proved to be the perfect fit for Trey and for us. As educators ourselves, my wife and I have early morning starts and late afternoon commitments, making it crucial to have a dependable resource to look after Trey. Right At School has been that and so much more.
Trey’s afternoons at Right At School are a blend of fun, learning, and personal growth. His favorite pastime? Playing outdoor games like four square and handball with his school friends. But it’s not just play; Right At School has helped Trey embrace his role as a junior educator, where he assists younger students with their homework. This responsibility has not only boosted his confidence but has instilled a sense of leadership in him.

For us as parents, one of the standout features of Right At School is its flexibility. My commitments as a school board member often require travel, leaving my wife to manage her career and Trey’s logistics alone. Right At School’s accommodating schedule, especially their early drop-off option, has been a lifesaver.
The communication from Right At School’s staff is another aspect we’ve come to greatly value. They keep us updated on Trey’s daily activities and are quick to share any concerns, which fosters a transparent and trusting relationship. A recent incident where Trey faced a small disciplinary issue was handled with such care that it turned into a positive learning experience for him reinforcing the values we teach at home about learning from mistakes.
For any parent considering after-school options, Right At School is exemplary not just for its convenience but for how it contributes to your child’s overall growth. The peace of mind that comes from knowing your child is safe, learning, and having fun is immeasurable.
