Wed	Aerospace & Flight Engineering: Taking Wing: By CodeAdvantage	Prepare for takeoff in a high-flying course that introduces students to the thrilling physics of aviation and aerospace engineering. Young engineers will spend the term exploring the four fundamental forces of flight: lift, weight, drag, and thrust. Through interactive building challenges, students will design high-performance paper gliders, test parachute drag, and construct pressurized bottle rockets to launch outdoors. We will also study biomimicry by observing how birds and insects naturally utilize Bernoulli’s principle to navigate the skies. Thu	Martial Arts by Connelly's Academy: By Connelly’s Academy of Martial Arts	Grandmaster Connelly is one of the most experienced and respected martial arts instructors in Chicago and the North Shore. He and his team of experienced martial arts educators have been providing fun, safe, and age-appropriate classes to our schools for over 30 years. His programs have had success in building confidence and motivating children to be respectful, responsible and resilient. Personal leadership and mutual respect form the foundation of his programs. Grandmaster Connelly and his team make learning martial arts fun, engaging and challenging, all the while building confidence, resiliency and personal leadership. This program teaches goal-setting and persistence, helping each child reach his or her personal best through the study of classical martial arts. Uniforms are not required for beginners. Uniforms may be purchased via our website. If not wearing uniforms, kids should wear loose, comfortable clothing. Belt promotion testing opportunities – where kids can advance in rank and earn a higher belt color by demonstrating what they have learned in class – are offered for qualified students in class. Tue	Dodgeball Enrichment: By Hot Shots Sports	Dodgeball provides participants with an opportunity to play the popular game in a safe and supervised environment. The program uses super soft balls and safety is stressed during game play. Each week players learn new variations of the game, keeping class fresh and the kids having fun. Wed	Mudlark Theater's Act Two: Lights Up: By Mudlark Theater Company	In this dynamic after-school class with Mudlark Theater, students will strengthen their acting skills while working with short scripts from Mudlark. Through theater games, ensemble-building exercises, and creative storytelling activities, participants will learn how to collaborate as a cast and bring stories to life on stage. A key focus of the class is teaching students how to analyze, interpret, and perform material that has been written for them. They will use their Actor Toolkit to bring stories, characters, and relationships to life with the help of these scripts. Wed	Structural & Civil Engineering: The Great Span: By CodeAdvantage	Step into the shoes of a civil engineer and discover how the world's most iconic bridges and skyscrapers stay standing. Students will dive deep into structural physics, learning how materials handle the invisible forces of tension and compression. Using everyday items like popsicle sticks, string, and paper, teams will build and test classic archetypes including arch, truss, and suspension bridges. We will also explore how architects safeguard massive towers against natural disasters using custom-built shake tables to simulate earthquakes.
