Holiday inspiration takes center stage with an adorable Holiday Puppy and a sweet Bunny with a Present, giving students the opportunity to explore character design and expressive detail. As we head into the New Year, Groovy Giraffes will introduce playful patterns and proportion, while a detailed Scorpion challenges students to focus on shape, symmetry, and line work. A delicious Ice Cream Sundae adds a fun opportunity to explore texture, dimension, and creative details. Students will also explore an inspiring Art History lesson featuring influential Black women such as Claudette Colvin. Each lesson is designed to strengthen drawing skills while building confidence and creativity. Mon	Aerospace & Flight Engineering: Taking Wing: By CodeAdvantage	Prepare for takeoff in a high-flying course that introduces students to the thrilling physics of aviation and aerospace engineering. Young engineers will spend the term exploring the four fundamental forces of flight: lift, weight, drag, and thrust. Through interactive building challenges, students will design high-performance paper gliders, test parachute drag, and construct pressurized bottle rockets to launch outdoors. We will also study biomimicry by observing how birds and insects naturally utilize Bernoulli’s principle to navigate the skies. Tue	Impact Kids Yoga: By Impact Kids	The Yoga program is designed to enhance students' physical and mental well-being. Through guided yoga practices, students will improve their flexibility, balance, and strength while learning techniques to manage stress and cultivate a calm mind. Our classes incorporate playful elements and age-appropriate yoga poses, making it an enjoyable experience for all participants. Tue	Mudlark Theater's Act Two: Lights Up: By Mudlark Theater Company	In this dynamic after-school class with Mudlark Theater, students will strengthen their acting skills while working with short scripts from Mudlark. Through theater games, ensemble-building exercises, and creative storytelling activities, participants will learn how to collaborate as a cast and bring stories to life on stage. A key focus of the class is teaching students how to analyze, interpret, and perform material that has been written for them. They will use their Actor Toolkit to bring stories, characters, and relationships to life with the help of these scripts. Fri	The Wizard of OZ: By Corella Productions	Please note this is not an acting class, but a comprehensive performance program that culminates that runs all year, in a Broadway-style production of The Wizard of Oz! Corella Productions is a female-owned, family-run organization providing high-quality after-school performing arts education throughout the Chicagoland area and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Now celebrating 25 years of service, Corella Productions is proud to be the longest-running after-school theatre program within Chicago Public Schools. Recognized as one of the nation's premier youth theatre programs, Corella Productions has transformed the lives of thousands of children through the performing arts. Founded on the principles of love, respect, and acceptance, our programs foster creativity, confidence, discipline, self-expression, and personal growth in a supportive and inclusive environment. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to discover their unique talents, find their voice, and experience the joy of belonging. This year-long performance program provides comprehensive training in acting, singing, and dance while preparing students for a fully staged musical theatre production. Students will rehearse weekly throughout the entire school year as they learn and develop all aspects of The Wizard of Oz. Enrollment in this program is a commitment to the entire school year and production. Tuition is paid in three installments: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The program concludes with performances of The Wizard of Oz at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts (1026 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago) on May 14-16, 2027. Tickets will need to be purchased for the production by parents. Tickets are $40. This is the only RAS program offered as a year-long commitment and provides significantly more instructional time than any other program offered. Students receive more than 70 hours of in-school training, plus approximately 30 additional hours of rehearsals at Ruth Page during the week of the show. At Corella Productions, we don't just create performers—we help shape confident, compassionate, and resilient young people. Fri	Drawsters: Cartoon Creations: By Abrakadoodle	Everyone loves a little whimsy! Join the Drawsters cartooning adventure! Abrakadoodle's one-of-a-kind drawing program will introduce young artists to the creative world of cartooning by launching imaginations with spaceships and rockets, bouncing with Balloon People, and dreaming about what animals love. Students will learn about symbolism on welcome flags, explore music in the whimsical art of Sandra Boynton, and create fun geometric characters in the tradition of kid-friendly cartoon artist Ed Emberley. And no cartooning adventure is complete without the art of the comic strip! Each student will create his or her own comic frame featuring the traditional elements of characters and dialogue.
